Mandarins is Singapore’s first premium bilingual student care centre offering a structured Chinese Immersion Programme through proven pedagogies to cultivate a nurturing environment to encourage children to use the language with confidence and to foster the children’s joy of learning and appreciation for the Chinese Language and culture.
As Chinese teachers and parents, we empathise with the challenges children face in learning Chinese and understand the support they need.

创始人寄语:
我是一位有两个孩子的妈妈，也是一位从事教育15年的华文老师。一直以来，我致力于培养孩子们的双语能力，尤其是华语。因为我很清楚地知道当你掌握多一个语言，你就多了一把钥匙，打开自己的视野，让你拥有比别人更多的机会。
从事教育行业这么多年，我知道孩子们在学习华文上面临的挑战。在学校里，由于班级人数多，课时有限，他们运用华语的机会并不多。放学后，他们有的回家，有的去托管中心。回到家，爸妈可能工作忙碌，家中帮佣大多数也不会说华语，孩子没机会可以练习讲华语。我孩子也去托管中心，我发现英文数学和其它科目的功课都能完成，唯独华语功课有时回到家是没完成的，原因是不会做，托管中心的老师也不懂华文。
因此，我想为这些孩子们创造更多自然使用华语的机会，让他们在有趣的活动中学习华语，去体会华语也可以是我们的生活语言。而学后托管中心，是每天孩子们会去的地方。所以，我们成立了“橘子乐园”。在这里，不像在学校课室里那么多人，孩子们更容易得到老师们的关注，也更容易进行轻松、深入的交流。他们有更多的机会去表达自己的想法。
“橘子乐园” 这个名字具有特殊的意义。在本地，华人新年时，大人或小孩都会拿着两粒橘子去拜年，送上祝福。而我们给孩子们送上的祝福就是为他们提供一个舒适，开心学习双语的环境和课程，给他们更多机会成为双语精英。
" As a mother of two and a former educator with 15 years of experience in the Ministry of Education, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges children face when learning Mandarin. I firmly believe that mastering a second language unlocks countless opportunities, yet I also understand how daunting the journey can be for many children.
In schools, large class sizes often limit opportunities for individual practice, leaving students struggling to build confidence in the language. At home or in aftercare settings, the challenge continues: especially when caregivers or teachers are not familiar with Mandarin. Without consistent support, it becomes difficult for children to sustain their learning beyond school hours.
I have encountered this challenge personally. When my children were in school-based care, they completed every assignment - except their Chinese homework. It was not a lack of effort; their student care teachers simply did not have the Mandarin expertise to guide them.
This experience sparked an idea: to create a space where children could practice Mandarin daily in a way that was fun, engaging, and accessible. And so, Mandarins Student Care was born.
At Mandarins, we prioritize smaller class sizes to give each child the individual attention they need. Instead of focusing solely on rote memorization, our approach emphasizes interactive, hands-on activities that encourage children to use Mandarin naturally. Through play, conversation, and creative expression, they gain confidence and develop a genuine connection to the language.
The name Mandarins carries a deeper significance. In Chinese New Year traditions, exchanging mandarin oranges symbolizes prosperity and good fortune. At Mandarins, our mission is to nurture children in a bilingual environment that mirrors these blessings - fostering growth, happiness, and success.

TEACHERS
Sui Xin, born in 1981 in Huanan, Heilongjiang Province, China, has been passionate about calligraphy since childhood. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Hunan Zhangjiajie Aeronautical Industry Technology College, where he was mentored by calligrapher Mr. Chen Libo. Sui mastered various calligraphy styles and earned recognition in competitions, including third prize in the Hunan College Students' Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
While in university, he worked as a part-time calligraphy tutor for children aged 7 to 15.
In addition to calligraphy, Sui enjoys Chinese landscape painting, classical music, and martial arts. He moved to Singapore in 2006 to pursue a career as a mechanical engineer and became a permanent resident in 2008. He also leads calligraphy activities for children at Pasir Panjang Hill Gospel Church.
