I am a mother of two, and a Chinese language teacher with fifteen years in education.
I founded Mandarins because I wanted to give children an environment where they use Mandarin naturally every day — and where the hours after school are full and worthwhile rather than simply passed.
In school, classes are large and lesson time is limited, so children rarely get the chance to speak. After school, parents are busy and may not have time to guide their homework. So we built the alternative: small classes, qualified Chinese teachers, and an immersive environment where children use Mandarin in the course of living and learning, not only in the course of studying.
At our student care, Mandarin is not just a subject. It is a language of daily life.
The mandarin orange carries a blessing. We hope this is where that blessing begins — walking alongside your child as they learn with joy, grow in confidence, and become capable in both languages.

我是两个孩子的妈妈，也是一位拥有15年教育经验的华文老师。
创办橘子园，是因为我希望为孩子们提供一个每天自然使用华语的学习环境，让他们的课后时光更充实、更有意义。
在学校，班级人数多、课时有限，孩子开口说华语的机会并不多；放学后，忙碌的父母也未必有时间辅导功课。因此，我们希望通过小班教学、专业华文老师和沉浸式语言环境，让孩子在学习与生活中自然使用华语。
在橘子园，华语不只是一门功课，更是一种生活语言。
“橘子”寓意祝福。我们希望以橘子园为起点，陪伴孩子快乐学习、自信成长，成为优秀的双语人才。

How We Teach
Three ideas shape everything we do — and none of them involve children sitting silently copying from a board.
The child leads, the teacher guides
Rather than the teacher being the sole source of knowledge, we put the child at the centre of their own learning. They ask, try, get it wrong, and work it out — with a teacher alongside them rather than in front of them. In small groups, that is possible; in a class of thirty, it is not.
Finding their voice
.A child who can read Chinese but will not speak it has only half the language. We build real communication into every week — show and tell, storytelling, public speaking, conversation — so that speaking up stops being frightening and starts being ordinary.
Learning by doing
Children remember what they have experienced far better than what they have been told. So we teach through concrete activities — cooking, building, experimenting, performing — and then talk through what happened and what it meant. The reflection is the part that turns an activity into learning
In Partnership with Little Earth Education
Mandarins works in partnership with Little Earth Education, a bilingual education provider running student care and academic tuition across Singapore.
The partnership gives our tuition and holiday programmes the backing of an established curriculum and a wider pool of experienced teachers, while everything stays right here in Bishan. It is also why our logo now carries both names.
We work with two further specialists — Lyza Education for AI Coding, and Kuang Tian Sports & Martial Arts for wushu — so that certain programmes are taught by people who do only that thing.
